National Coffee Day 2010
Happy National Coffee Day!!
I’ve been neglecting the blog lately but now I’m back and I couldn’t have picked a more perfect day for a new post. Yes, this actually is a nationally recognized day in the great United States of America. And why wouldn’t it be my fellow coffee fans?? According to Indy Posted, coffee has been consumed as a beverage for over 700 years.
Coffee is kind of a big deal, an average of 1400 million cups of coffee are consumed every day (woah!). So today, take a moment to celebrate coffee. You could head to your local Dunkin Donuts for a free cup of joe. According to social media news source, Mashable, the coffee and doughnut giant is also celebrating their 60th birthday (congrats!!) with a Facebook contest to find the biggest DD coffee fan. Speaking of a ‘cup of joe’ (and the inspiration for this bloggers title), the term was coined during WWII because soldiers, known as ‘Joe’s’ were big coffee consumers.
Another way to celebrate this great day would be to take a coffee break. The Boston Globe posted “12 Professions that Need Coffee the Most” …if you are one of these fine folks, I”d say you deserve that coffee break 🙂
I am personally celebrating today by sitting on a porch in the woods, enjoying the cool fall weather and browsing the internet with a cup of the new Starbucks Natural Fusions Caramel. See how others are spending their coffee holiday with the trends on Twitter:

So whether you visit your favorite local coffee shop or brew a cup at home, take some time today to stop and smell the coffee beans.
