Rev Coffee- Smyrna, GA
It was beautiful in Northern Georgia this weekend- the weather was shorts-worthy warm, the sun was shining and there were outdoor festivals events aplenty! After a trip to the farmer’s market in the morning Mark and I headed over to Rev Coffee for Rev Fest. I skipped my morning coffee so I could enjoy a cup [or two] when we visited Rev later 🙂
Rev Fest was an all day event filled with coffee, crafts, music and food…the perfect way to spend a Saturday? Heck yes it was. There were people everywhere so we picked up our coffee (an iced macchiato with a dash of cinnamon for me and a plain iced coffee for him) and were lucky to find a window seat at a counter top where we could sit and listen to the music while people watching.
The coffee at Rev is excellent, it is smooth tasting with low acidity. Coffee can taste good but if it is too acidic or burnt tasting you probably won’t go back for multiple cups. At Rev Fest we definitely went back for seconds. Rev has an impressive selection of flavored syrups- from which I created an Iced Nonfat Coconut Almond latte- It was like a macaroon in a cup and perfect to walk around with and enjoy the art at the event. I wrote a post about another local coffee shop (article here) that roasts its own coffee and I would venture a guess, that is what is going on here. I was told that Rev recently started roasting their coffee in-house as well. This gives the coffee shop more control over the flavor outcome of their drinks and can result in some divine coffee. I was also told that the roasted beans from are great when paired with a French press, but I’ll leave that up to you to find out!
Why I love Rev Coffee: The coffee is great, but Rev is so much more than just a coffee shop…it’s a community gathering place. Rev Fest may have been a one day event but it is the embodiment of what you should expect when going to Rev…
- Local art and crafts adorning the walls (most is for sale). PLUS they have canvases/ceramics + paints for making your own art work.
- Great pastries (and other typical coffee acompanying foods) and inventive sandwiches too!
- Regular music events, open mic nights, and comedy shows
- WiFi available, lots of table and workspace; it’s a great place to sit and work (alone or with a group)
- And they have great coffee!!
