Your Dekalb Farmer’s Market

I’d been hearing a lot of great things about Your Dekalb Farmer’s Market.  So like any curious person with access to the internet, I googled it.  This is not just a farmer’s market people.  This is an international, fresh food warehouse.  It is hard to describe how amazing this place is…Can you imagine a place with fresh fruits, veggies, organic products, bulk spices, whole wheat grains/flour/etc, international food items, a large wine/beer stock of hard to find things from all over the globe, fresh chicken/pork/buffalo/beef/seafood/veal/lamb/turkey/etc, a fresh bakery with unique breads and baked goods, the biggest macaroons you’ve ever seen, freshly ground peanut/almond/and cashew butters, a prepared foods area for eating in or taking out, gourmet cheeses from across the world, AND…an coffee roasting IN HOUSE.  Oh yea and did I mention it’s fresher and WAY CHEAPER than going to those overpriced ‘whole/organic/food’ markets??

Of course I was most excited to check out the coffee roasting but there is so much there to see.  We were able to replace all of our fresh food (and some other staples) shopping for the week with our trip to Your Dekalb Farmer’s Market.  Wow.

Now how did it all hold up when we made it home and started consuming these great new finds? I don’t like making weekly trips to the grocery store, I prefer that we make a trip every other week.  This usually works out pretty well, except for with some fresh fruits and veggies (brown bananas…yuck!).  Well the produce for YDFM lasted much longer, probably about a week longer than the average grocery store stuff.  Plus the quantity was greater, what a deal!

As for the coffee, it was delicious! A little bit on the pricey side, but well worth it…here’s why:

  • Ability to choose from coffee from 30 different countries
  • You can add flavoring (25 choices) to customize your coffee
  • Large selection of organic and fairly traded coffee
  • You can buy green beans to roast yourself
