Java Monkey- Decatur, GA
If I were to paint you a picture of a ‘hip’ coffee house, it would be Java Monkey. AMple seating and a patio to boot, local art on the walls, a wall of yummy looking organic coffees and a wine bar. What?! Yea, a wine bar. You stroll though this already impressive coffee shop and when you get to the condiments counter at the back, look to the left and you will see a wine bar.
We visited Java Monkey during the day but if I had to guess, this would be a great place to relax with a book or meet up with friends on a weekend evening. Plus, this area of Decatur is ripe with trendy little restaurants and bars to keep you occupied if you want to wander around the neighborhood.
My caramel latte was excellent, though a little hot for the temperatures outside. I always for get to order something iced when I go to a new coffee shop…oops. Mark had an iced brewed coffee (smart man), he liked it but I preferred the sweeter drink. A good thing about their iced coffee, they definitely brew a strong cup….no wimpy, watered down coffee here!
I would definitely be into a repeat visit, except next time I would like to sit and relax for a while to really take in the hip-ness that is Java Monkey.
