When Coffee and Fashion Collide…
Okay, so I wasn’t going to post about this because I wasn’t particularly interested in the designs. However it would be unfair of me to deny you of some interesting coffee news just because I don’t particularly like it….what a horrible blogmaster I would be :( Sorry guys!
So here it is, earlier this week all of the fashion sites that I like to follow were all reporting about a collaboration between high-end fashion designers and Starbucks. I was curious so I looked around the interwebs a bit to see what all of the fuss was about.
Apparently the designers Alexander Wang, Sophie Theallet and Billy Reid are designing t-shirts to commemorate Starbucks 40th anniversary. While this could be a kind of cool idea, there is one problem…the price. For a t-shirt they are charging $85. To be honest, thanks to being in a sorority when I was in college, I have more t-shirts than I can handle right now and don’t need to spend what equates to my cable bill on a shirt. I realize that this si trying to bring awareness to a good cause and I am all about philanthropy…but still. The collaboration is with three CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund award winners, Starbucks is a supporter of this group that gives grants to help out emerging designers.
I kind of like the Billy Reid design with the Starbucks logo on the shoulder and the Sophie Theallet globe inspired shirt with a tieback. I’ll let you decide for yourself.
Also, this is the link to the starbucks store where they are being sold.
